Soooo, I am writing a blog. You may be wondering why. If you figure it out, do me a favor and let me know. Just kidding. In all seriousness, I would like to write a novel someday. A fantastic story that people will actually want to read. I love to read, so writing something that I would want to buy myself would be pretty awesome.

Two of my closest and most favorite people in the world, who also happen to double as my coworkers, have inspired me of late to get writing. One is a writer, while the other recently started her own blog. The writer has been especially supportive, telling me that I have to just start writing. Anything and everything. And so I have finally decided to take her advice.

Make no mistake, this blog is for me. I am doing it for me and no one else. My posts will be as random as random can be, covering a multitude of topics. Books, music, TV shows, movies (DEADPOOL!), sports, traveling, friends, and life goals to name a few. I will even occasionally get pretty deep and serious amidst all of the light-hearted, fun topics.

First up: Donald Glover (though I will keep it brief to start).

Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is a huge inspiration to me. The man is a maestro when it comes to words. Check out part of this interview he did. He writes, acts, tells jokes, and raps/sings (among many other talents). As much as I love his stand-up and watching him act, it is his songs that are my favorite. They speak to me, to my soul, in the most profound ways. If you do not know who he is, I highly recommend checking out some episodes of 30 Rock (he was a writer for the show), Community (in which he plays Troy), his comedy stand-up Weirdo, and/or any of his songs as Childish Gambino (Outside, That Power, and Not Going Back are great songs to start with). Odds are good that I’ll dedicate a few future posts to dissecting some of my favorite Gambino songs. I could literally drone on and on about Gambino, so I will cut myself short and leave myself some material for future posts. You know, give ya something to look forward to.

FYI.. I will be using lyrics from Childish Gambino’s songs to name all of my blog posts. Some will be edited to fit what I want to say (ex. I changed ‘rapper’ to ‘blogger’ in this post’s title), while others will be left in their original form. We will see how long I can keep that up. #challengeaccepted
